When you create a new workspace, Nagata walks you through a six-step setup. You can skip any step and come back later, but completing them unlocks the most useful outputs.
Step 1 — Create your workspace
Name your workspace. This is usually your company name. You can change it later in Settings.
Step 2 — Upload spend data
Upload a CSV of your software transactions. Nagata accepts exports from Brex, Ramp, NetSuite, Expensify, and QuickBooks, or any CSV that matches the template format.
This is the most important step — it builds the vendor inventory that all other features build on.
See Uploading spend data for the full guide.
Step 3 — Import AI usage data
Upload a CSV of your LLM API usage — provider, model, cost per call, occurred_at. This step is optional but required for AI-specific recommendations and the AI spend report.
Step 4 — Upload contracts
Upload PDFs or DOCX contracts. Nagata extracts renewal date, notice period, annual value, and seat count, then asks you to confirm or correct the results.
See Uploading contracts.
Step 5 — Generate recommendations
Once you have spend data, click Generate recommendations. Nagata runs its rule engine across your data and produces a list of prioritized actions.
This usually takes a few seconds. You'll see the results immediately after.
Step 6 — View your audit report
The audit report summarizes your full spend picture, the savings Nagata identified, and a gross-value / net-value breakdown with an ROI multiple.
This is designed to be shared — you can download it as JSON or generate a shareable link.
Coming back later
You don't have to complete all six steps in one session. The onboarding checklist is accessible from the dashboard until all steps are marked complete. Each section of the app is usable independently once the relevant data is uploaded.
